That is the cause of the basketball tummy and fatneck. It is caused by my 'prolonged' steroid use. I've been on prednisone for over 2 years. There is a test that they can do to make sure, you should ask your doc to check you for it. The water retention didn't have anything to do with the Cushings, it was unknown. Sadly, I'm right there with you honey, but it is not a fun place to be. I've been having funky liver read out for months - and actually they told me I had hep B for a while, which it turns out I don't (and speaking of, boy did I worry a lot of people unnessicarily, hah!) - and its never been really resolved. When you gain weight so fast, like we do with pred, it can cause NASH (that is, fatty liver) which is just a stupid side version of hepatitis - not virial, not autoimmune, just stupid. I sincerely hope you don't have cushings, but if I'm not mistaken, there is treatment for that. And if it's secondary cushings related to pred, the effects are often somewhat reverseable (if not all the way?). I know myself, my ugly little buffalo hump has decreased since I got down to 15 milligrams of prednisone. That said, few things have hurt worse than seeing the phrase "patient appears slightly cushingoid" in doctor's notes. I hope this mess gets sorted out soon. Be strong though!
